Work nears completion on business park at former Mamas&Papas site

Work is nearing completion on a £3m business park at a site previously owned by nursery retailer Mamas &Papas, a scheme which is set to create 100 jobs.

West Yorkshire property company Frank Marshall Estates is developing Bridge Business Park in Huddersfield speculatively, having bought the land from Mamas & Papas in 2015.

The 2.73 acre site is situated next to the headquarters of the retailer on Colne Bridge Road.

Frank Marshall Estates is run by Edward and Jimmy Marshall.

Edward Marshall said: “This is an extremely significant project for us. There is a distinct lack of high-quality and flexible light industrial units in the Huddersfield area, so we are hoping to satisfy the pent-up demand from small-to-medium-sized businesses, who are looking for attractive, practical and modern premises, combining warehousing and distribution space, with hi-tech office facilities.

“There are six business units on the park, ranging from 2,500 sq ft to 10,750 sq ft. They are built in three blocks, arranged around a central service courtyard, providing room for vehicles to turn round and park. Rents will be in the region of £8 per sq ft.”

Jimmy Marshall added: “Although Frank Marshall Estates has extensive interests in West Yorkshire, this is our first major development in Huddersfield, one of the county’s foremost towns with a splendid industrial history.

“We are proud to be contributing to the area’s economy, by building bespoke business/industrial units and creating jobs. We are committed to the town.”

Mark Hanson of West Yorkshire property consultancy Walker Singleton, incorporating Hansons, who are marketing the site for Frank Marshall Estates, said: “Considerable interest has already been expressed by a number of prospective tenants for the site and this will no doubt increase when the buildings are completed next month.”
