Council approves housing scheme after plans revised

Wakefield Council has approved planning permission for 67 homes on Cobblers Lane in Pontefract.

Pegasus Group secured the approval on behalf of Linden Homes Yorkshire West, following a re-plan of the site which was originally granted planning permission last year.

The urban design and planning teams from Pegasus Group’s Leeds office worked with Wakefield Council to deliver a scheme to meet the requirement of the Local Plan.

Chris Hunter, senior director with Pegasus Group, said: “We were pleased to see Wakefield Council support the re-plan of this site which will bring much-needed new homes the area.

“The plans sought to replace a number of four-bedroom properties with two and three bed homes and as a result there will be an increase of 18 properties on the site, compared to the total number previously granted planning permission.”

Pegasus said the development of the site provides the opportunity to meet a range of housing needs, including affordable housing, and deliver pedestrian and cycle links throughout the site and the existing adjoining residential areas of Pontefract.
