Former office building being turned into apartment complex
Work is now underway to transform a former office building in Horsforth into a brand-new apartment scheme, with a gross development value of approximately £5m.
Development company, Avenir Works expects work on the 21 apartments within Greatminster House to complete in March 2020.
The project has been designed by Leeds-based Brewster Bye Architects and is in a central location, within Horsforth’s conservation boundary, on the junction between Low Lane, Troy Road and Lister Hill, a short walk from the town’s railway station.
Prices for the one and two-bedroom apartments with parking will range from £150,000 to £250,000 and they will be released for sale in January 2020.

Chris Austin, managing director at Brewster Bye Architects, said: “Greatminster House is in a prominent location in Horsforth, but it looked ugly and unloved.
“This is especially true when you look at all the investment and development work that has gone on around it in recent years. As well as giving the property a bright new future, a key feature of this development will see the building’s appearance significantly improved.
“Its dated glass curtain walling will be replaced with a modern façade that will feature a combination of high-quality materials and a sensitive colour palette that is designed around the heritage and architectural character of the local area.
“In addition, major improvements will be made externally to the building’s surrounding landscaped grounds and car park area. Once complete there’s no doubt it will be a genuine asset for Horsforth that integrates seamlessly into the local Conservation Area.”
Avenir Works has completed several other high-profile residential projects in Leeds recently including converting 53 The Calls in the city centre into 19 loft style apartments.
The same developer is currently turning Centenary House on North Street in Leeds’ Northern Quarter into a mixed-use development consisting of 85 apartments with commercial space. Work is also now underway at 16 & 17 East Parade, where Avenir Work is creating a mixed-use development comprising residential apartments, an apart-hotel and commercial space.
The developer’s upcoming pipeline and land bank includes sites in key locations throughout the UK that could deliver approximately 600 homes.
