Getting Yorkshire’s infrastructure fit for the future

People are invited to join TheBusinesDesk.com for a special event looking at infrastructure investment across Yorkshire.

The event is being held in partnership with specialist law firm CMS, which recently launched its Infrastructure Index entitled ‘Bridging Continents’.

Featuring an expert panel, the discussion will look at the report’s findings on a regional level. Discussing areas of renewable energy and the environment, the growth of digital connectivity and 5G, and investment in transport infrastructure.

Tom Bridges, Leeds office leader and director of cities advisory at Arup

Tom is a chartered town planner with over 22 years’ experience in economic development, town planning, urban and regional policy, transport, regeneration and city operations.

Alongside his role as Leeds Office Leader, Tom is responsible for developing Arup’s UK Cities Advisory services. This includes advising on city and city region strategies for economic development, inclusive growth, skills and innovation, supporting clients on funding and finance, socio-economic advice, housing growth, neighbourhood renewal, regeneration programmes and other city-wide potential strategies.

 

Kim Johnston, city manager, CityFibre

Kim is the city manager for CityFibre in Leeds, supporting the implementation of a £120m project to transform Leeds with a new full-fibre digital infrastructure.

She has a breadth of experience in the private, public and third sectors and has also recently completed a PhD researching the impact of integration of care within the English health and social care system.

 

 

Ben Still, managing director, West Yorkshire Combined Authority

Ben joined West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) in February 2016. With a background in transport and economic development, policy-making and delivery, Ben has a deep understanding of the City Region’s diverse agenda and brings a wealth of experience from working in both public and private sectors.

He is passionate about making a difference to the people and the businesses of Leeds City Region and is committed to driving the organisation’s innovative approach to transport services, making its vision of inclusive growth a reality and growing the regional economy whilst also cutting greenhouse gas emissions, playing a role in helping the City Region to become net-zero carbon by 2038 at the latest.

 

Fraser Askham, partner, CMS

Fraser has 22 years of experience, which he uses to help clients resolve disputes and successfully deliver construction, engineering, energy, infrastructure and waste projects, within the UK and internationally.

He has substantial experience of acting in a project advisory capacity, working alongside client teams during project delivery and addressing risks to time, budget and project objectives.
