22-acre residential development site sold to house builder

National property consultancy Carter Jonas has agreed the sale of a 22-acre (8.9 hectare) residential development site in Boroughbridge on behalf of private landowners to national house builder Taylor Wimpey.
The consultants were initially instructed to negotiate an Option Agreement with the developer in 2015. Since the agreement was signed, Taylor Wimpey has been pursuing full planning permission on the site which was granted in 2019. Carter Jonas then negotiated the sale price on behalf of the landowners.
Located at the southern end of Boroughbridge, the land benefits from good transport links with Junction 48 of the A1M 0.5 miles (0.8 km) away providing easy access to Harrogate in 14 miles (23 km), York in 17 miles (27 km) and Leeds in 29 miles (47 km).
Steven Soper, senior surveyor, Carter Jonas, said: “This development site presents an excellent opportunity to create a new housing conurbation in a well-connected and coveted village.
“It has all the characteristics to prove popular with Taylor Wimpey’s buyers seeking well-located family homes within the commuter belt of Harrogate, York and Leeds.”
Steven Ball, sales & marketing director, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said: “We’re pleased to have bought this land which is in a fantastic location. Perfect for families, the development in Boroughbridge will provide great travel links to key areas.”
“We’re committed to making sure our developments are sustainable and positively contribute to local communities therefore we’re looking forward to commencing work in the coming months.”
