Construction begins on more than 60 new homes

Work has begun on the latest stage of a development to provide dozens more homes in Leeds.

Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire has started construction on phase two of its Moseley Green scheme, providing an additional 61 new homes in Cookridge.

As part of the planning agreement, Taylor Wimpey will contribute over £475,000 to Leeds City Council via the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which will go towards improving the local area.

In addition to this, over £35,0000 has been paid to the council as a Travel Plan Monitoring Contribution with an additional £10,000 Bus Stop Contribution.

The new development will consist of a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes. 35% of the plots will be affordable housing in accordance with Leeds City Council policy and will be offered in a variety of tenures.

Phase two of the Cookridge development is 15 minutes by train from the city centre and is also close to Leeds Bradford Airport.

Ross Clarkson, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, said: “We are pleased to announce that work has begun on phase two of Moseley Green.

“The location is great for growing families and, with its close proximity to Leeds city centre, we expect it will be popular with those looking to experience the benefits of the suburbs with a vibrant city also nearby.

“We are committed to making sure our developments are sustainable and positively contribute to local communities and are pleased to be providing contributions to Leeds City Council.”

The new development is due to launch in autumn 2020.
