Planned logistics site to create 450 jobs

The European logistics arms of a global commercial real estate developer and investor, Trammwell Crow Company Logistics (TCCL) has applied for permission to create a new 380,000 sq ft building in Sheffield.

The global business which acquired the 20 acre site on Shepcote Lane in October plans to demolish the existing 455,000 sq ft unit currently on the site and has been vacant since 2019.

Plans estimate the new development will create 458 direct full time equivalent jobs, with a statement submitted to the Sheffield City Council to support the planning application noting “the site provides significant opportunity…to intensify the amount of employment development and deliver a modern facility which contribute positively to the local area and will help to regenerate a site which has become rundown”.

TCCL is working with CBRE, Chetwoods, WSP, Brooks Ecological, Synergy, Fore Consulting and Latitude Surveys on the project in an industrial area which has also seen significant investment from businesses including Clipper Logistics, Pretty Little Thing, ITM Power and Great Bear.

The Sheffield site is the company’s second European site following the purchase of a 19.4 acre site in Milton Keynes where it plans to deliver a 340,000 sq ft of logistics space across three buildings.

Mike Forster, director and head of UK logistics for Trammell Crow Company Logistics described the Sheffield site as representing “an exceptional redevelopment opportunity”.

He added that TCCL “are actively looking for further opportunities on brownfield and greenfield sites in strategic locations across Europe”.
