Consulting engineering firm poised for further growth

TGA Consulting Engineers (TGA), which provides consulting engineering services, has expanded its team after locating to larger premises in Leeds.
The firm now aims to double the size of its headcount in Leeds over the next five years.
Established 60 years ago, TGA, which already has offices in Newcastle, Durham, London and Stevenage, moved from The Pinnacle to a new office location in Albion Street in central Leeds at the start of the year.
With implementation of a business development strategy underway, two new appointments have been made as a foundation for future growth.
Martin McKay has been appointed as an associate. Specialising in electrical engineering design, with particular emphasis on project lead and delivery, he has joined from a global professional services firm and brings 25 years of experience to TGA.
He will be involved across a number of sectors including higher education, laboratories and advanced manufacturing.
Ross Nicholson, a mechanical engineer, has also been appointed.
Russell Entwistle, technical director and head of the Leeds office, welcomed the two new members of the team, who will continue work on several projects in the Yorkshire area including the Hull Maritime Museum project which comprises the refurbishment of the Grade II listed building and a new build Passivhaus standard facility.
TGA’s work at Ledston Hall is drawing to a close. TGA has been involved in completely refurbishing this Grade I listed minor stately home near Castleford since 2010 to create rental accommodation in a series of houses and apartments.
Entwistle said: “I feel confident Martin and Ross will play an important role in helping to drive forward our business expansion plans as key members of the Leeds office team.
“It’s an exciting time to be pushing forward in this vibrant city and with so much to offer the market.
“TGA is passionate about driving down the energy and carbon production of buildings, incorporating sustainable and low carbon technologies and can provide wide ranging technical and consultancy support to projects both large and small, working with tier one contractors and developers, so we have much to offer the Yorkshire market.
“The use of energy in new and existing buildings is of the utmost importance as part of the climate emergency.
“Over the next five years we are ambitious to double the size of our headcount in Leeds and become a recognised employer of local people with local knowledge.”
Headquartered in Durham, TGA currently employs 46 staff across its five offices.
