Key worker accommodation built as part of £100m Government investment

New accommodation for medical staff has been completed in Scunthorpe town centre, designed to support both NHS key workers and high street businesses.

The accommodation, called Elizabeth Row, has been delivered as part of a £100m package of Government investment for this part of the Humber region.

Councillor Rob Waltham, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “I’m happy that we have been able to deliver these impressive facilities that will be a huge benefit to the doctors and nurses that keep us safe and well at Scunthorpe Hospital.

“Our thanks must go to Scunthorpe MP, Holly Mumby-Croft, who fights hard to secure the Government cash that is creating an exciting new future for the town – allowing us to build this accommodation, on top of the ground-breaking Enterprise and Innovation Hub, the new police station, and Discover – our free interactive attraction for families which opens early next year.

“Together, these landmark developments will bring new jobs and new people onto the high street who will shop local, eat out at restaurants and bars, and contribute to a vibrant night-time economy.”

Mumby-Croft added: “The Government is backing our ambitious regeneration plans for Scunthorpe with millions of pounds of investment – Elizabeth Row is just the latest bricks and mortar example that will be a huge boost to key workers and businesses.

“It’s absolutely right that those doctors and nurses who work tirelessly to keep local people well have access to really good quality, centrally located accommodation and that’s exactly what they will have here.”
