Construction milestone reached at 500-apartment scheme
Glenbrook and funding partner, Legal & General, have celebrated a milestone after reaching 19 storeys, the highest point of construction at Whitehall Riverside in Leeds city centre.
Designed by Sheppard Robson and constructed by Bowmer & Kirkland the 500-build to rent apartment development comprises two towers of 16 and 19 storeys. It forms part of the wider £280m masterplan, which is being delivered by Town Centre Securities.
Whitehall Riverside comprises a mix of one, two and three-bed apartments. The project offers terrace gardens overlooking the River Aire and includes amenities for residents across the ground and first floors with 4,500 sq ft commercial accommodation at ground floor level.
Daniel Roberts, development director at Glenbrook, said: “Whitehall Riverside is really starting to take shape and raise the bar for high quality, sustainable living accommodation in the city.
“The external façade is already embedding into its surroundings, and we’re excited to see the creation of well-connected living spaces with features such as a riverside park, open lawned space and enhanced cycle routes.
“The construction programme is on schedule, and we look forward to announcing practical completion at the beginning of 2026.”
Adam Burney, Head of Annuity BTR for Legal & General’s Asset Management division, added: “We’re excited to see this important milestone for Whitehall Riverside complete and would like to thank our partners Glenbrook for their support.
“This scheme represents another example of how pensions capital can be directed into the residential sector, increasing our housing supply and providing substantial social benefits.”
