A landmark building in central Bradford, currently a bank headquarters, is to be turned into apartments.
US-based developer, ARC PFBFDUK001 LLC, intends to convert 1 Godwin Street, into 103 homes. The property is currently the Vanquis Banking Group’s headquarters.
It was developed in 2010 as part of the £45m Southgate development.
Under the conversion proposals, the property will be divided into one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with two ground-floor commercial units.
Bradford Council planning officers have confirmed interior plans for 1 Godwin Street meet the criteria for permitted development, so can go ahead without requiring council consent.
However, the developers will still need planning permission from the council for external works to the building, including new windows for many of the apartments.
Vanquis is due to move into a neighbouring office building, which previously accommodated PwC before the company’s relocation to the new One City Park development.
