PROPERTY management expert David Barraclough has joined Yorkshire law firm Shulmans as a partner in its real estate team.
Mr Barraclough will continue to act for Town Centre Securities on its property management work, including the Merrion Centre in Leeds.
Simon Jackson, head of commercial property at Shulmans, said: “David's particular expertise is in property investment, development and management.
“His skills acting for landlords of shopping centres and developers with retail elements are much sought after.”
Mr Barraclough will become president of Leeds Law Society in May this year, the third partner at Shulmans to take on this role following Jeremy Shulman and Rosemary Edwards.
Shulmans acts for St James Securities, Crosby Lend Lease, Caddick, Evans of Leeds Group and MMC Estates. Its residential development team acts for most of the UK's top housebuilders including Barratt, Persimmon, Bellway and David Wilson Homes.

PROPERTY consultants Colliers CRE has appointed Struan Gunn as an associate director to its national offices agency department in Yorkshire.
With more than 18 years experience as an office agent, Mr Gunn will be based in Colliers CRE's Leeds office within the four strong offices team.
Covering both acquisitions and development disposals throughout Yorkshire and the North-East, he will provide advice to clients including Yorkcourt Properties for Paragon Business Village in Wakefield and Capital and Counties for Broad Gate in Leeds.
Mr Gunn joins Colliers CRE from the Leeds office of CB Richard Ellis where he spent three years as an associate director covering Yorkshire and the North-East. He has experience of the North-East market, an area in which Colliers CRE is looking to expand its presence.

PLANNING and urban design consultancy, Turley Associates, has further strengthened its team of directors in Leeds with a senior appointment.
Eamonn Keogh will join Matt Quayle, himself a recent addition to the team, and existing directors Andy Rollinson, Richard Baxter, and Matthew Sheppard, to lead the company's environmental impact assessment service.
Mr Keogh and Mr Quayle will focus on advising on major housing, health and industrial projects throughout Yorkshire and the Humber.
Mr Keogh, who has joined Turley Associates from housebuilder Places for People, will head up major consultancy projects focusing on the promotion of strategic housing sites, land supply issues and negotiating affordable housing.
Mr Quayle, who joined from Golder Associates, now leads the urban design team, overseeing major city centre regeneration projects, urban village schemes and university campus expansions.

NATIONAL practice DLG Architects has appointed Richard Austwick as senior architectural technologist at its Leeds office.
With more than 20 years of architectural experience, Mr Austwick, 38, joins DLG having worked across all sectors in particular commercial, residential and industrial.
He will head up DLG's food industry team as well as managing ongoing projects for Arla Foods at Stourton in Leeds and Settle worth £20m. He will handle delivery of developments for DLG's client base which includes Walkers Snack Food and Nestle.
Mr Austwick previously worked at SDA Architects in Leeds where he was an associate and specialised in designing and facilitating developments on difficult sites.

COMMERCIAL law firm Beachcroft has appointed Lesley Hughes as a real estate litigation partner.
Working with Leeds-based partner Simon Sherwood and national property head, Virginia Clegg, Ms Hughes has expertise in handling landlord and tenant disputes.
Ms Hughes started her career at Clifford Chance and joins from Walker Morris where she gained experience of all aspects of commercial property litigation, including development issues and enforcement.
She will form a key part of Beachcroft's northern real estate team which works with clients across Leeds and Manchester.
Virginia Clegg said: “Our northern real estate team is a cross-Pennine offering that ensures our clients benefit from a combination of the most appropriately experienced people and local market knowledge.”
Real estate is a core area for Beachcroft with more than 100 solicitors, including 20 partners, working across the country.
