Business park to create jobs in city

WORK has started on a £1.6m business park.

Bradford-based developer Marrtree is building Wellington Business Park on Sticker Lane near Bradford city centre.

Situated on a former derelict textile mill site, the development is Marrtree’s fifth new business park construction in four years and will bring new companies and jobs to the West Yorkshire city.

William Marshall, director of Marrtree, which is part of The Frank Marshall Group of Companies, said: “Wellington Business Park is a prominent site on Bradford’s outer ring road and having already had significant interest from several national trade counter operators, we expect the units to let quickly.”

The 22,500 sq ft development will consist of two buildings housing a total of eight self-contained business units, which range from 1,750 sq ft to 4,500 sq ft.

They are available individually or in combination – up to a maximum of 16,000 sq ft. Each has loading facilities and benefit from a large shared secure yard, which provides additional parking and offsite monitored CCTV.

Mr Marshall added: “We are seeing an increasing trend for businesses wanting to be just outside of a city centre but close to major routes. People visiting trade counters need to be in and out quickly at the busiest times of the day so its important their suppliers are accessible and convenient.”

Marrtree specialises in developing and letting commercial property to small and medium sized businesses. In the last four years it has grown its Marrtree Business Park brand to include sites in Glasshoughton, Penistone, Uppercroft Mills in Bradford, and the recently completed and fully let £1.25m Marrtree Business Park Silsden. The company is soon to finish construction on a new site in Berwick upon Tweed.

The Frank Marshall Group of Companies includes Wellington Business Park’s appointed contractor, Pickard Contractors, residential developer Century Homes and Yorkshire stone quarry products Hard York Quarries.

Walker Singleton in Halifax and Eddisons in Bradford have been appointed joint agents on Wellington Business Park.
