STG delivers specialist care unit
CONSTRUCTION firm Strategic Team Group has completed the £1.3m redevelopment of a former residential care home in Leeds to become the city’s first intermediate care unit.
The South Leeds Independence Centre, which will provide 40 community intermediate care beds, is jointly commissioned by Leeds City Council and NHS Leeds South and East CCG, with Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust as the lead provider.
The centre has undergone a major refurbishment and will provide care focused on rehabilitation and promoting independence.
The aim of the centre is to provide more intensive rehabilitation care in a community setting to prevent the condition of patients deteriorating and needing to go into hospital.
Strategic Team Group’s regional operations director Gary Taylor said: “We are pleased to have played our part in delivering this innovative healthcare facility for the people of Leeds. This redevelopment is further testimony to our expertise in managing all elements of care and health sector projects, whether working with design teams to incorporate suitable building infrastructure or advising clients on detailed matters such as choosing furniture, fixtures and fittings.”
