NG Bailey called up for £25m project

YORKSHIRE-based NG Bailey has been awarded a £25m contract to complete all mechanical and electrical engineering (M&E) works at the Ministry of Defence’s Beacon Barracks base in Staffordshire.
The project – on behalf of the MOD’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) – is being undertaken to increase the barracks’ size, growing its capacity from 500 to 2,000 personnel and creating enough room to accommodate two new signal regiments returning from Germany. A variety of new buildings will be constructed, including offices, workshops, living quarters and ancillary facilities.
Ilkley-headquartered NG Bailey will deliver a full design and installation solution.
Mike Darlington, joint managing director of NG Bailey’s Engineering division, said: “This is a great win for us and we’re delighted to be delivering services that will grow the barracks’ capacity.
“Our strong partnership and collaborative approach will enable us to deliver a best value solution for the Ministry of Defence.”
David Hurcomb, chief executive of NG Bailey, added: “We have a proven track record in delivering large-scale projects and that, coupled with our size and stability in the marketplace, stood us in good stead for the win. We look forward to starting on site and to delivering the project with Lend Lease.”
