Future of Hull City to be addressed

THE owner of Hull City, Assem Allam, will address rumours surrounding the future of the club at a press conference tomorrow.
There is speculation that Allam either wants to sell Yorkshire’s only Premier League club or is planning a significant move relating to it’s ownership and running which could be to allow his son, Ehab, currently the club’s vice-chairman, to take over, according to reports.
However, no details have been released and it is unclear if Allam will say he intends to sell the club or just step down from day-to-day involvement.
The businessman, who runs manufacturer and supplier of generators, Allam Marine in Melton, East Yorkshire, has been credited with saving the club from financial disaster when he bought it in 2010. However, he was unpopular with some fans when he wanted to change the official name from Hull City AFC to Hull Tigers. That proposal was thrown out by the Football Association Council in April.
Recent financial accounts showed that by the end of July last year Allam had loaned £72m to fund the club’s rise from near administration to Premier League promotion in 2013 and FA Cup finalists last season. This summer the club spent around £25m on new players for manager Steve Bruce, recouping £15m by selling Shane Long and George Boyd.
