Brewery launches £300,000 bar at Granary Wharf

A LEEDS region brewery is set to open a new bar and restaurant at landmark waterside building, Candle House at Granary Wharf in Leeds, creating 15 jobs.

Ossett Brewery, which invested £300,000 in the launch of CANDLEBAR, successfully applied to Leeds City Council for an alcohol license for the site, which was developed five years ago at the city centre wharf.

This comes despite a difficult start from the project, as residents and the West Yorkshire police brought forward concerns which The Hop-bar owners Ossett compromised upon.

Managing director of Ossett Brewery, Jamie Lawson said “We of course know both Leeds and Granary Wharf well from our continued success with The Hop, Leeds but this venue is totally different to those we have launched previously and we can’t wait for others to experience it.

“From couples and colleagues to groups and families, CANDLEBAR will always be the place; you just have to pick the time.”

It will be opening its doors on April 24, serving 14 craft world beers, over 20 wines by the glass pristinely dispensed through Enomatic preservation machines, and pizza from an Italian wood-fired oven.

Featuring a waterside seating area outside, with views across the Leeds-Liverpool canal, CANDLEBAR will also benefit from the planned opening of Leeds Station South Exit, which will be adjacent to the bar.
