Arco invests £4m in distribution centre expansion

SAFETY equipment supplier Arco has announced plans to invest £4m in its Hull-based national distribution centre.

The NDC stores 22,000 products in 226,042 sq ft of warehouse facilities and supplies a network of 43 local trade counters.

The expansion will be completed by summer 2016 says the firm, with a mezzanine floor being constructed.

Last year the firm also invested £500,000 in its own product testing lab “to stay ahead of the competition” and also celebrated 130 years in business.

Thomas Martin and Neil Jowsey, Arco’s joint managing directors said: “This project is testament to the strength of our business, which comes from our firm commitment to sustained investment in our company and in the local area.
“Last year we launched our own product quality and assurance laboratory to ensure that our customers are using the best safety products on the market that meet the highest standards.
“The improvements we are making at the NDC will make staying safe even easier, with product availability and delivery also assured.”

In December last year the firm reported sales for the period had increased year on year to £268.2m, with operating profit up to £15.4m.
