Where do you live/where are you from?
I was born in Darlington, and I’ve lived in Yorkshire since studying at university in Leeds. I’ve now lived longer in Yorkshire than I did in the North East, have I earned my Yorkshire stripes yet?

What is your favourite place to visit in Yorkshire and why?
The Yorkshire Dales. I find them relaxing and inspiring. Yorkshire Sculpture Park comes a very close second, for similar reasons.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?
Plenty! That’s one of the great things about Yorkshire; there’s so much to do. There are lots of restaurants I want to visit – although I think we’re spoilt for choice there, so much so that I doubt I’ll ever get round them all. I also want to climb to the top of York Minster’s Central Tower and admire the view. I’ve worked in York for sixteen years now and still haven’t got round to doing it.

What is the most memorable meal you’ve ever had in Yorkshire?
Going for fish and chips after finishing the Three Peaks. I can vividly remember sitting on a wall, eating my chips and feeling an enormous sense of accomplishment!

What is your most Yorkshire trait?
People say I’m down to earth – I’m happy with that.

Favourite piece of trivia about the region?
The village I live in – Clifford – gets a mention in the Domesday Book.

What is your favourite cultural icon to come out of Yorkshire?
Barbara Hepworth. I’ve always been really drawn to her work and admire the fact that she achieved international recognition in what was very much a man’s world.

First experience of Yorkshire (for non-Yorkies)
Happy days shopping in Leeds with my mum, while my dad and brother watched the cricket at Headingley.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?
The fact that it’s a long way from Cornwall, where my family now live.

What is one thing you’d steal from Lancashire (or other UK regions) if you could?
I’d probably pinch a bit of the laid-back Cornish attitude, plus its slightly warmer climate.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?
I can’t think of the most overrated, but the most underrated is Clifford Fisheries. Best fish and chips ever!
