Yorkshire Dales country house hotel snapped up by architect

AN architect-turned entrepreneur has bought a country hall hotel.
The Simonstone Hall Hotel in the Yorkshire Dales, famed as the site of the fight which was a catalyst to Jeremy Clarkson leaving BBC motoring show Top Gear, was snapped up from an asking price of £995,000.
The deal amount was undisclosed.
Architect behind the new company, Simonstone Hall Hotel Ltd, Jake Dinsdale, incorporated the company on 26 February.
Former owner, Michael Cannon, bought the hotel in 1996 when he acquired shooting interests in the area. He is trading in his interests in Yorkshire to focus on the Wemmergill Estate in County Durham.
Peter Bean, director of theLeeds hotels agency team, commented on this and a number of hotel deals facilitated by Colliers International. He said: “These recent sales comprise a mix of property types from across the hotels spectrum and vary from private individuals entering into the hospitality sector for the first time and established operators adding to their portfolio with a prime hotel asset.
“Either way, it’s great to see such positivity in the marketplace with sales being completed, owners releasing the value in their properties in order to move on to pastures new, and buyers having the opportunity to secure their desired acquisition in the bustling Yorkshire and North East hotels market.”
