THE achievements of Yorkshire’s most successful businesses were celebrated last night at the Yorkshire Business Masters.
The event, by TheBusinessDesk.com in association with Investec Wealth and Investment, saw companies from across the region be recognised for their successes.
Alex Turner, editor of TheBusinessDesk.com, said: “It was a great evening recognising the successes of Yorkshire businesses.
“We had a record number of entries, which made choosing the shortlists and winners particularly difficult, and every company selected should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
Sky Betting and Gaming took home the final award of the evening – Fast Growth, sponsored by Clarion – for its phenomenal performance and impact on Yorkshire. The online gaming company, which is headquartered in Leeds and has its second office in Sheffield, has grown quickly to become a major player in its marketplace.
The Ambassador award went to Drax chief executive Dorothy Thompson , for her decade-long tenure running the energy group that has seen the North Yorkshire power station be transformed by its biomass conversions – which is leading the way nationally and internationally.
The evening, which was hosted by BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker, was sponsored by Investec Wealth and Investment, Cenkos, RSM, Clarion and UKTI.
The evening began with a performance from the RSM office choir. Neil Sevitt, audit partner and tenor singer in the choir, said: “We were proud to kick-start proceedings at this year’s Yorkshire Business Masters award ceremony with a rousing choral set, including llkley Moor Bar T’at’ and Shine.
“Collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of our business and this was a key driver to launching the choir last year. It’s been an incredibly affective teambuilding exercise that has brought together colleagues across both Leeds offices encouraging greater interaction and camaraderie.”
Thanks to our judging panel – Lucy Thornycroft from the CBI, Richard Wright from Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, UKTI’s Mark Robson, Steve Crow from Clarion and RSM’s Mike Thornton.
