Planners give go-ahead to Silverpride Works redevelopment

PLANNING approval for the redevelopment of the Silverpride Works in Sheffield opposite the former Gatecrasher site has been secured by WCEC Architects.

The scheme, on the corner of Matilda Street and Eyre Lane, has been designed by WCEC on behalf of SB Wall and Bolsterstone, working with DLP Planning.

The development will deliver 103 self-contained studio bedrooms, ranging from 18-25m2 in size. In addition, a shared amenity space at ground floor will provide an operational management suite, with study and social spaces for residents.

The site is located within an area of established operational student living buildings, which predominantly serve Sheffield Hallam University.

WCEC design director Nick Riley said: “This project will deliver a quality building; both architecturally and in the living environment it creates for residents.

“Students are an integral part of Sheffield’s economy and culture. Purpose built developments like this in the city is right, in my opinion, and will ensure the Universities continue to attract both domestic and international students to the city.”
