£29m Indian deals for steel group

THIRSK-BASED steel specialist Severfield has secured £29m in Indian contracts.

Its 50:50 joint venture with JSW Steel has been awarded projects across the country, including two high rise towers for a commercial complex in Kerala; a large parking facility in Karnataka; two industrial projects in Maharashtra and a technology building near Delhi.

Ian Lawson, chief executive officer, Severfield plc, commented: “JSW Severfield Structures Ltd, our Indian joint venture, continues to perform steadily and develop a strong pipeline of work from new clients. These contracts are reflective of our ability to provide clients with world class engineering and bespoke design services.”

In June this year Severfield returned to multi-million pound profits following setbacks at the Cheesegrater building in London. Revenue grew 19% to £239.4m, whilst its £8.6m in pre-tax profits were a significant improvement on the £100,000 made last year.
