ProLogis plots land sale of ‘smaller sites’

MORE than 40 acres of industrial land in the region have been put up for sale as part of a disposal programme of “smaller sites” by ProLogis.

The firm is looking to sell 15 acres across three plots on ProLogis Park, north of Coventry city centre, along with 26 acres on ‘Central Park’, next to Junction 1 of the M6 at Rugby.

The sales programme of “smaller sites” was being carried out to meet emerging customer requirements with the firm continuing to seek new sites to accommodate larger facilities, it said.

American firm ProLogis, whose UK HQ is in Solihull, owns a host of parks across the region including in Stoke, Minworth near Birmingham, Lichfield and Stafford where US fashion giant Gap opened a 230,000 sq ft distribution hub last summer for a new UK online retail venture.

The land disposal programme also includes plots in Northampton, Mansfield and Newbury.

ProLogis UK managing director Andrew Griffiths said: “The industrial property market is showing some signs of improvements, so we are reshaping our current land bank to meet the demands of the new market.

“As part of this process, we have selected for sale some high quality sites that are in good locations but that do not fit with our business plan because they are smaller than a typical ProLogis plot.

“We have received a great deal of pre-marketing interest in these sites and we have no doubt that they represent very attractive development opportunities.”
