Opus secures first pre-let after Omega Park deal

COMMERCIAL property developer Opus Land has agreed the first pre-let on an industrial park just two months after it bought the site.

Selco Trade Centres has taken a 20-year lease on a 37,738 sq ft unit on the 10-acre Omega Park, near junction 5 of the M6 in Erdington.

Selco is a trade only builders’ merchant with self-select warehouses across England and Wales.

Opus plans to invest around £1.6m in the trade outlet, to be built to Selco’s corporate specifications.

Planning permission has already been submitted and work is scheduled to begin in October.

Omega Park, to be renamed ‘Opus Aspect’, was previously home to engineering firm GKN and later acquired by Wilson Bowden. It was sold by Clowes Development to Opus earlier this year.

Gareth Williams, Opus development director and joint owner, said: “Opus Aspect offers the unique combination of a strategic location on one of the UK’s busiest motorway junctions, within only minutes of Birmingham’s city centre – an attractive prospect, which is already attracting a high degree of interest from a range of operators, both regional and national.”

Opus Aspect is being developed with the support of the Palmer Capital Development Fund and agents are King Sturge & GVA Grimley.

Planning consent has previously been granted for 193,245 sq ft of office, distribution and industrial units.
