Foxes win shuts Leicestershire accountancy business

The eight-strong staff at a Leicestershire accountancy business have an extra reason to thank Leicester City for their Premier League triumph.

AccountAbility boss Kay O’Brien pledged that her Cosby team could all have an extra day off work if the Foxes were crowned champions.

Following the club’s success, Kay has been true to her word and the doors at AccountAbility’s Portland House offices will remain closed on 16 May, the day after the Foxes enjoy a victory lap at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge.

O’Brien, who set up AccountAbility 14 years ago, said: “Back in January I rashly made the promise that all the staff could have a day off to celebrate if – and it was a big ‘if’ back then – Leicester City could stay at the top of the table.

“My colleagues have been reminding me ever since, and the morning after Spurs could only draw with Chelsea they were keen to see if I would keep my promise. I am delighted to do so.”

She added: “We work with lots of small and medium sized businesses in Leicestershire and the Foxes’ title challenge has been a hot topic for all of them. They’ll all understand why we are closed for one day.”
