500 homes for Nightingale Quarter

Plans for up to 500 homes in the Nightingale Quarter, the former Derby Royal Infirmary site, have been revealed, with a mixture of houses, apartments and a care home.

The application was submitted to Derby City Council by GVA Bilfinger on behalf of developer First Urban, and retains many of the site’s heritage features.

The site will retain the grade-two-listed building Wilderslowe House, and one of the facades, which would act as a “central community and design focus, a landmark and anchor to the public realm and a clear and sufficient link to the site’s former use.”

These new homes are part of what inward investment agency Marketing Derby is calling Derby’s “city living boom”, with nearly 2,400 new properties built, or in construction.
