140 jobs on hold as ISIS nightclub plans withdrawn

Plans to be build 20,400 sq ft of restaurants on the former ISIS nightclub site in Nottingham look set to be delayed after the initial application was withdrawn by its architects.

The new development by Oakgate Retail would’ve seen five new restaurants built at the 10 acre, long-established retail area which also includes a 12-screen Showcase cinema, Frankie & Benny’s, Nandos, Chiquitos, Dawn ’til Dusk Poker and Casino, ten-pin bowling and Lazer Quest.

The new development would’ve created 140 jobs across a range of 4,000 sq ft and 2,200 sq ft units.

A statement by Oakgate Retail in the inital design and access statement said: “An additional A3 food and drink offer on this site will enhance the quality and availability of restaurant/diner facilities in the area, and be complementary to the existing leisure offer and will strengthen Clifton Leisure park’s offer as a destination, as well as playing a role in anchoring the future prosperity of the area.”

Caddick Construction had been appointed as main contractor on the development.

Meetings have been ongoing with Nottingham City Council for nearly 18 months and architects from DLA Design had produced 11 different versions of the scheme addressing different concerns from the Council.
