Stricken Leicester haulier could be on the verge of pre-pack

Stricken Widdowson Logistics could be sold in a pre-pack deal to a new firm registered at its Mill Lane headquarters in Glenfield, Leicester.

Reports suggest that a new firm, Glenfield Storage Solutions, has been set up and lists among its directors Damion Daves – a director at Widdowson, and Demis Armen Ohandjanian, who is listed as a director of various companies under the wing of Widdowson owner HLD Group.

Widdowson slipped into administration on 23 January after Leonard Curtis took over the day-to-day running of the company. The administrators have failed to comment on the case, but the firm oversaw the deal which saw AW Widdowson & Son sold in a pre-pack in July 2016 in a deal that saw creditors lose out on £1.6m.

Widdowson sites at Bardon and Scudamore Road in Leicester now have Glenfield Storage Solutions signage, according to reports. Until October last year these sites were home to Widdowson Leasehold.

There are believed to be around 50 drivers left at Widdowson. Further reports alledge that some 20 of them had not been paid last week.
