6 cocktails to make this Valentine’s Day

Planning a cosy night in with your loved one this Valentine’s Day? Why not mix your evening up a bit and get mixing cocktails together, you could soon find your new favourite drink, writes Bethan Tolley. Get the ingredients in for these and enjoy…

Cupids Fizz
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Slingsby Gin’s in-house mixologists have created the Cupids Fizz. Simply mix 25ml of Slingsby Rhubarb Gin, 25ml Pink Grapefruit Juice and 12.5 ml Elderflower Cordial.
Top the cocktail with Prosecco and enjoy.

French Kiss
To enjoy a French Kiss cocktail, you will need 1oz vodka, 1oz raspberry liqueur, 1/2oz orange liqueur
and 1oz of whipping cream. Get shaking and once smooth, pour into two champagne flutes and don’t forget to garnish with a cherry or raspberry to make it even more delicious.

Raspberry Martini fizz
This is a classic with a Valentine’s twist. To serve at least four of these each, mix together 350ml of Martini and 150ml of a gin of your choice. Before you sit down to enjoy, put a pinch of icing sugar into a champagne flute, add your martini and gin and top with frozen raspberries. Top the cocktail up with Prosecco or sparkling wine and enjoy.

Jake’s Bar in Leeds have also created a Valentine’s special cocktail. ‘Respect your Elderberries’ is made up of 50ml Portobello Road Gin, 10ml St Germain and 50ml pomegranate juice. Add 15ml lime Juice, 2.5ml pomegranate molasses and 10ml gomme. Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a tall chilled glass before garnishing with thyme sprig and dehydrated pomegranate.

Bounty Cocktail
If that special someone in your life is a chocolate lover, they could love a Bounty cocktail, which is super tasty and chances are, you already have the ingredients in the cupboard. All you will need to mix together is one shot of Malibu coconut rum, 1tbs of golden syrup or honey and 3-4 shots of chocolate milk. Add chocolate sprinkles or a cherry on top

Slingsby Gin’s in-house mixologists have also created the Pink Gin Fizz for Valentine’s Day. You will need to mix 30ml Slingsby Navy Strength Gin, 20ml Chambord and 10ml fresh lemon juice. Add 10ml of Hibiscus Syrup, 20ml of fresh cream and 1 whole egg white. Shake and add soda before pouring into a tall glass and garnishing with an edible flower.
