Derby manufacturer to create six jobs after investment

A Derby-based company is launching its first range of rolled bottom containers following a £15,000 investment in equipment, creating six new jobs.

WFP Fabrications, a waste management fabrications specialist, is rolling out the new range later this month (May 2017) after investing in a new 155 tonne press with the capability to create the curved steel sides that the new design requires.

WFP Fabrications has also created six new positions at the Ilkeston-based factory in order to keep up with the demand.

Matthew Holmes, managing director of WFP Fabrications, said: “We are excited to be launching the new rolled bottom range after investing money and time into creating prototypes and testing the design.

“There are many benefits to this new range, as it has smooth sides where other ranges have ridges – this means companies have a better opportunity to place advertising and branding on the containers they use as there is nothing to obstruct the surface of the steel.

“Companies have also said that this design saves on fuel costs In the long run, as it has a more aerodynamic shape and is therefore better to transport.”

The new products are already proving popular, with Wastecycle having already ordered four of the containers in the new shape, and four containers have already been shipped to Mv Xuereb Demolition in Malta.

Holmes added: “In light of the large amount of orders for our traditional and new ranges, we’ve decided to create positions for six more welders in order to expand the workforce to keep up with the demand.”
