Pub plans revealed for Nottingham station

A new micropub is set to come to Nottingham railway station after a licence application was lodged with Nottingham City Council.

BeerHeadZ, which has pubs in Grantham and Retford, wants to open The Cabman’s Shelter in a Grade 2 Listed timber building just outside Nottingham railway station, next to the British Transport Police Station.

A statement on the BeerHeadZ website says: “We have applied this week for a premises license for our first city venue, which will be in Nottingham. If all the permissions are approved, we hope to be trading by late June/early July.”

An East Midlands Trains spokesperson said: “We’re always looking to improve the facilities we offer our customers at stations.

“We’re therefore really excited to be working with BeerHeadZ on the possibility of them opening up at Nottingham station.”

BeerHeadZ Grantham recently won the CAMRA Town Pub of the Year Award.

Philip Ayling, who has applied for the licence for the new Nottingham venture, is also one of the owners of Just Beer in Newark, which recently won the CAMRA Newark Town Pub of the Year.
