5 things I’ve learned running my own business: Andy Middleton, Ginger Root

Andy Middleton

Andy Middleton is a director and co-founder at creative agency and printer Ginger Root and is largely responsible for the marketing and sales side of the business. He is also a printing expert, having been involved in the industry for many years.

Here, he tells us the five things he’s learned about running his own business.

1. Two heads are better than one. Share the load rather than have it all on your own shoulders. 50% of something big is better than 100% of something small.

2. Network, network, network. Get out there and market yourself. Networking is the new door knocking and it’s so much easier and more fun! Target 3-4 events per month and commit.

3. Have a great website, keep it up to date and promote yourself with social media. It’s your shop window to the world so keep it current, up to date and guide people there via social media.
4. Surround yourself with great people and look after them. Be a great leader and help your staff become the best they can be. In turn they’ll help you be the best you can be.

5. Don’t take knock backs personally. It’s only business. There’s too much stress in business and some decisions are beyond your control. Do the best job you can with the jobs you do win.
