Plans revealed to turn city centre restaurant into trampoline park

A buffet-style restaurant could be turned into a trampoline park if Nottingham city councillors pass plans drawn up.

The Cornerhouse unit, currently occupied by World Cuisine Buffet, and before that Red Hot World Buffet, could be transformed into a 26,350 sq ft facility, complete with Bear Grylls fitness classes if plans are passed.

World Buffet says it will surrender the lease to the unit should planning permission be granted, with a company called Oxygen Freejumping taking over.

The change of use could create up to 40 jobs.

As well as the trampoline centre, the new development would include a reception area, changing facilities, safety briefing area, staff room/management offices, party rooms and a café/restaurant area, which would provide a range of refreshments.

A letter from chartered surveyors Montagu Evans to Nottingham City Council reads: “The proposed change of use from restaurant to a trampoline centre, with ancillary restaurant/café, would deliver a high quality leisure facility in the heart of Nottingham city centre, which would complement the existing range of town centre uses in the city centre as a whole and those included in Cornerhouse itself.

“The proposals would result in the re-occupation of a vacant unit, thereby creating additional activity, and would contribute to the vitality and viability of the city centre. In land use terms, the proposals are considered to be consistent with the policy objectives of the Development Plan.”
