East Midlands Airport has appointed Andy Pelham as its new head of the aviation Development team. Pelham will join existing team members Heidi Barlow, head of marketing, and Conan Busby who moves into a new expanded role as aviation development manager.

“Andy joins us from Manchester Airport, where he has been a key contributor to the airport’s successful growth in recent years,” said Howard Ebison, commercial director, East Midlands Airport and Bournemouth Airport.

“Having previously worked with many airline partners, we welcome Andy’s new and innovative approach in the development of our airline portfolio and route network,” added Ebison.

“I am excited to be taking on this role at this important stage in East Midlands Airport’s development,” said Pelham. “East Midlands Airport is well established as being a low-cost airline and leisure airport, but I am looking forward to expanding the type of carrier and range of destinations currently being offered to its catchment.”

Pelham will be in post in early September, ready for the upcoming World Routes event in Spain next month.

Manisha Morar

The Institute of Quarrying (IQ) has added to Nottingham team with the appointment of a new learning and development officer.

Manisha Morar joins IQ following six years at KPMG in London, where she worked in human resources, training and learning deployment and development. Her new role involves implementing upgrades to IQ’s e-learning courses and learning management system.

James Thorne, IQ’s chief executive officer, said: “We are entering an exciting new period in IQ’s history. As we celebrate our centenary it’s important that we make sure what we do is fit for purpose for today’s online world. Manisha is tasked with taking our e-learning programmes to the next level, so that they’re more interactive, engaging and intuitive.

“She has a great deal of experience from her time at KPMG and we’re looking forward to benefiting from the application of her learning to create a compelling IQ e-learning portfolio. After all, when and where we learn is changing so our offer needs to reflect this. We wish her luck and are delighted to welcome her to our team.”

Morar said: “I’m from a corporate background, working for a firm that employs more than 12,000 people nationally, so the environment at IQ is completely different. The great thing is that my skills are transferrable, so as part of a smaller team I’m really looking forward to having more responsibility and making a personal difference.

“I get great satisfaction from helping develop people and so am really interested to see the demand for the higher education qualification grow as we upgrade our e-learning courses.”

Morar studied Human Resources Management and Business at Oxford Brookes University. She has recently relocated to Nottingham from London.
