Nottingham nightclub to be turned into offices

Plans to turn a former nightclub in Nottingham’s Lace Market area have been approved by the City Council.

Mich Stevenson’s Spenbeck property firm want to turn the three storey 10-12 Broadway, otherwise known as The Birkin Building, which has been used as bars and nightclubs for the last 25 years, into a 10,376 sq ft office building.

The building has been vacant since February, but in a letter to Nottingham City Council seen by TheBusinessDesk.com, Mich Stevenson, one of the most highly respected figures in the local property sector, said that Spenbeck has already had interest from firms looking to move into the building.

The letter reads: “We have been approached by numerous interested parties wishing to occupy the premises, even though we have not been formally marketing the property.

“We have been approached by a prospective tenant who is very interested in taking the first and second floors and has provisionally agreed a Head of Terms for a five-year lease with no break and already have significant interest in the the third floor too.”

Spenbeck says it will remove the bar areas, soundproofing and acoustic provisions that were put in the building when it was altered for nightclub use.

Stevenson was recently the chair of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, in which the Lace Market sits.
