Pie-maker reveals plans to create 150 Leicestershire jobs

Food company Pukka Pies has submitted plans to build a new factory near its Syston headquarters in a move that would create 150 jobs.
The family-run firm has lodged plans with Charnwood Borough Council to build a 51,128 sq ft facility that would include office, distribution and storage space.
The site is currently used for agricultural purposes and sits on the north side of High Street, Syston.
Pukka Pies currently employs 300 people in Syston, but its current site is “limited in terms of expansion,” according to a planning statement from Marrons, who say that as well as the 150 jobs at the new facility, a further 50 could be created indirectly in the town.
A design statement from architects LE1 reads: “As a long-standing family business, Pukka Pies want to remain and grow in Syston.
“The proposals would enable Pukka Pies to grow and create a significant number of new jobs
for the local and regional area.”
