Nestlé Waters submits plans for 300,000 sq ft expansion of Buxton plant

Around 70 new jobs could be created in Buxton, Derbyshire, after plans by Nestlé Waters to expand its bottling and distribution plant in the town were revealed.

Reports in the Buxton Advertiser suggest that the firm wants to expand its factory on Waterswallows Lane by 300,000 sq ft, in a move that would increase storage space for its bottling operation.

The bottling plant employs 220 people in Buxton. If High Peak Borough Council gives the plans the green light a further 72 full- and part-time jobs would be created, according to the report.

A statement supporting the planning application says: “The new development will represent a significant new investment in mineral water bottling and distribution in Buxton.

“This investment in a key local economic sector is important in many ways. It demonstrates a confidence by Nestlé Waters in its Buxton operation, it provides long-term resilience for this economic sector, it will provide added security for existing jobs, it will lead to the creation of new employment opportunities and it will give support for other businesses in the supply chain.”
