Owners put high-end restaurant up for sale
A high-end casual dining restaurant, bar and mini cinema in the Peak District National Park has been placed on the market by its owners.
Lucy Würstlin and Simon Couth have instructed the national business transfer specialist Blacks Business Brokers to find a new owner for the Hathersage Social Club, with an asking price of £50,000 to take over the lease plus annual rent of £23,000.
Würstlin and Couth, who plan to relocate away from the area once the business has been sold, established the Social Club in 2013.
The business is rated the top restaurant in Hathersage, with five stars, by TripAdvisor. It has almost 1,800 followers on Facebook – again, with five-star reviews.
The Social Club is based in a detached property on Station Road in Hathersage, which has seating for up to 36 diners on the ground floor, along with a fully equipped open plan kitchen. The first floor houses a large lounge, a bar and a second, smaller lounge.
The building also includes a separate mini cinema room with seating for 18. Outside is a riverside terrace with seating for 44 al fresco diners.
The business is currently open from Thursdays to Sundays. The restaurant caters for brunch and lunch, and holds a programme of regular supper events.
The Social Club also hosts private cinema dining evenings and other bespoke events. In its last financial year it turned over £326,000.
It employs four part-time staff, plus seasonal help as needed. Würstlin currently carries out the role of manager and Couth is head chef.
The property also includes an adjoining two-bedroom cottage.
