A Nottingham-based firm has acted as project manager on a successful National Lottery funding bid that will breathe new life into a £3.37 million church restoration scheme in London.

Focus Consultants was instrumental in securing a £1.45 million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund which will be used to restore the Grade II* listed St Mary’s Church in Walthamstow.

The project will create a centre for music, art and culture at the church – the oldest building in Walthamstow and the centrepiece of its ancient village in north east London.

The scheme will begin in early 2021 and is expected to take between nine months and a year to complete.

Florence Andrews, senior consultant at Focus Consultants, said: “This is great news for St Mary’s Church in Walthamstow, and the team at Focus Consultants is very proud to have played a role in supporting the church and its parishioners with the bid.

“Securing National Lottery funding means that a new chapter in the life of the church and its community can soon begin.”
