Budget cancelled as election talk intensifies

The Budget scheduled for 6 November has been cancelled, according to reports.
Sajid Javid has made the move amid increasing talk of a December election.
The Chancellor is believed to have shelved the plans because the government wants to clarify its position with the electorate before laying out any spending proposals.
It is thought that delays to the Brexit timetable are also behind the cancellation.
The proposed Budget on 6 November would have been Javid’s first as Chancellor.
