Tech CEO steps down due to ill health

The boss of a Nottingham-based business messaging pioneer has stepped down from his role due to illness.
Geoff Love resigned his position as CEO of Commify Group – the multinational firm which runs the Esendex, Mobyt, Trendoo, Skebby, Text Marketer, FastSMS, SMSenvoi, SMSpubli, M:Science, Connection Software, Massenversand.de and SMSUP brands.
A statement from the company said: “Geoff has been the pillar on which Commify Group has been built, first making Esendex one of the best messaging companies in the UK and then leading Commify to become Europe’s number one business messaging provider. He remains part of the Commify family and we wish him a speedy recovery.”
Commify has appointed Tom Boucher as Interim chief executive Boucher has held several CFO roles in private equity backed companies and is an operating partner at Hg (Commify’s parent company). He joined the Board of Commify in December 2018.
Love said: “It has been an absolute privilege and honour to lead this business, and the last nine-and-a-half years have been an incredible experience for me. Together we have built a business of almost 250 people, helping some 45,000 businesses across the world and sending almost 3bn messages a year.
“This is a great business, full of incredible people and I am pleased to leave it performing well and with a clear plan as to how to complete its transformation as it approaches the next phase of its journey.”
Boucher said: “I would like to pay tribute to Geoff for the incredible business he has built, over the last 10 years. He has created Commify and grown it to be a champion of business communications. Geoff is a true leader, visionary and role model to the organisation and embodies the Commify values of Passion, Ownership, Innovation and Integrity.
“Geoff’s health and swift recovery is the board’s paramount concern, hence the need to act quickly and provide Geoff with the opportunity to step away from the business. We all wish him well.
“I look forward to working with the team in continuing to build a leader in B2B business messaging.”
