Engineering consultancy eyes West Midlands expansion

A Derbyshire-based civil and structural engineering consultancy has celebrated its 20th anniversary by announcing a senior appointment, and now says it has its sights set on a new office in Bimingham.
Structural Design Associates (SDA), of Swadlincote, has appointed former senior structural engineer Martyn Connelly to the role of associate.
Connelly steps into the role following the retirement of SDA founder member Keith Williamson, who left the business in June.
He said: “This is a great time for the firm. We’re celebrating 20 years of business, and these new opportunities really open up doors for us – and I hope to see growth continue for the next two decades and beyond.”
SDA was acquired by capital investment company Integrated Food Projects last year and is now looking to continue its growth plans by expanding into the West Midlands.

Connelly said: “There is a strategic note of growth within Birmingham, and the addition of a second office in a city that is a hive of construction and impressive infrastructure will be hugely beneficial.
“We would still keep our Derbyshire base, but allowing expansion into the West Midlands will allow us to meet the levels of growth that we expect in the coming years.”
The growing business has also announced the appointment of Andrea Bradbury as its new business development coordinator.
