Lace Market Hotel reveals expansion plans

Nottingham’s Lace Market Hotel has revealed plans to expand.

The upmarket hotel on High Pavement wants to add 24 rooms by repurposing some its back office space and building an additional three-storey block.

A set of glazed doors are proposed behind the existing gates to the front of No. 27 High Pavement that will help enclose a small existing outdoor area of the Cock and Hoop pub.

A statement from Darling Associates Architects said: “The proposals will enhance a currently underused area to the rear of the building.

“The bedrooms proposed internally maximise the space without compromising the listed building.

“The proposed extensions, refurbishments and upgrade reordering proposals will be undertaken sensitively; respecting the historic features of the existing building and restoring any damaged historic elements that are in the area of the proposed works. All of the above is to ensure the buildings make the most of their inherent historic character for visitors to the hotel to be able to appreciate.

“The proposals will make the building a more comercially viable proposition which will in turn ensure that the upkeep of the building fabric will stand a greater chance of being preserved intact for future generations to appreciate.”
