100 jobs on the way as listed park reveals expansion plans

More than 100 new full and part time jobs are coming to Kettering after a popular family attraction revealed plans to expand.

Wicksteed Park, a Grade II English Heritage-listed park and garden, will create a wealth of new catering, rides and customer service roles following the completion of a £3 million project to restore its lake and the £2.5 million transformation of its Edwardian pavilion, central piazza and precinct.

The Park is now set to begin a £1.78 million National Lottery Heritage-funded scheme to create a heritage playground showcasing early rides designed by park founder Charles Wicksteed. The project will also include the restoration of the park’s Rose Garden and the upper floor of the Pavilion.

Wicksteed Park’s head of marketing Rachel James said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Wicksteed Park family at a really exciting time, with lots of new developments and improvements.

“The jobs are mainly weekend, school holidays and evening work, and are seasonal flexible roles. The events will be an opportunity to understand a little more about the roles and give us chance to interview candidates who are suitable.

“Many of those who fill temporary jobs at the park each year are students and some will do three or four years in a row or stay and become full members of staff.

“In fact, some of the most senior employees at the park began their careers in part-time or seasonal roles. Our staff gain valuable experience which could be the first step towards a long-term career in the leisure industry.”
