Nottingham city centre pub to be turned into a gym

A former Harvester pub in Nottingham is set to be turned into a gym.

The building, at 14 Castle Bridge Road near the Castle Marina retail park, will be taken over by Wellcomm Health and Fitness, which was set up by a group of entrepreneurs led by chair Mike Dixon and CEO Alistair Firth to roll out the Orangetheory Fitness brand.

The company had previously pledged to open 40 new studios by 2028.

Orangetheory launched its first studio in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2010.

Since then it has rapidly expanded to nearly 857 studios in 47 US states and 17 countries – with another 500 studios in the development pipeline. The franchise expects to reach 1,150 open studios in 2018.

Orangetheory is based on a 60-minute, five-zone, heart-rate monitored, interval training concept.
