First female consultant for alternative funding specialist
Rutland-based Pegasus Funding has appointed a life sciences entrepreneur and fundraising expert to its panel of advisers.
Dr Sandra Hogg brings a wealth of experience as an investor, fundraiser and business development strategist to the role. After completing a post-doc in psychopharmacology at Guys Hospital Medical School in London, she took up senior R&D and business development roles at Synthelabo in Paris and Lundbeck in Copenhagen, and subsequently became the founder and chief executive of Angita Pharmaceuticals, where she fundraised and secured more than £5m in EU regional development grants which were matched by independent and private investors.
Hogg was then appointed director of biology at animal health company Chalante, where she devised business plans and fundraising strategies to finance its research and development activities. She also took the unusual step of implementing a non-dilutive charity funding approach to fund its vaccines division.
She said: “It’s exciting to be the first female representative at Pegasus. I think the benefits of having different characters with different backgrounds can only help our clients.
“Equity investment for start-ups and small SMEs is where I will likely focus most of my time at Pegasus. I am passionate about helping entrepreneurs achieve their goals, both personal and professional.
