Almost 500 venues across Nottinghamshire could close under Tier 3, says research

Almost 500 pubs, wine bars, casinos and betting shops across Nottinghamshire could close if, as expected, parts of the city and wider county are placed under Tier 3 restrictions from next Wednesday.

Research from real estate advisory firm Altus shows that 473 venues could shut when Nottinghan, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe are subjected to the harsher rules.

MPs were in talks with Government officials on Friday morning, with further discussions involving council leaders from the affected areas set to take place at 3.30pm.

It is thought an announcement about the areas being placed in the ‘Very High’ category will be made in Parliament on Monday, with the restrictions enforced from Wednesday.
