Local estate agency plans national expansion
An East Midlands estate agency, which earlier this year received a six-figure investment from private equity house Dunelm Partners, says it is ready to expand into different cities across the UK.
Hortons Estate Agency, which was launched in 2017 by Adam Horton, claims to be one of the largest estate agencies in the East Midlands.
Hortons operates with area partners instead of office locations, each partner specialises in their local market.
Last October, the firm opened in Loughborough with the appointment of Rebecca Holders, and says it now has more properties for sale that any other local agent.
Horton said: “The success Rebecca has experienced in Loughborough and the surrounding villages is clear evidence that home movers want a more modern approach from estate agents.”
Holder added: “I joined Hortons as I live in Loughborough and really wanted to use my experience in the industry to provide local people with a more modern, approachable and helpful experience when moving home.”

In January, Dunelm Partners, a private investment syndicate, took a stake in Hortons, with one of the firm’s partners taking a seat on the board.
James Johnson, a former partner in law firm Clifford Chance, was also previously a director of Leicester City FC, having been one of the five people who set up the Lineker consortium to rescue the club from administration in 2003.
Hortons now have a team of 25 across Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, and says it plans to expand into other cities in 2021.
Holders added: “Modern estate agency is about communication and reaching as many potential buyers as possible, whether that be on Rightmove or social media, the more eyes that see your property the higher sale price you are likely to achieve. Home owners also deserve to have an agent that is there throughout the process of moving, someone who is fully committed to helping them achieve the right result. I think this ethos is what has set us part from all the other agents in the area.”
