Deal to sell Derby County collapses again

Pride Park, home of Derby County

The sale of Derby County to Spanish businessman Erik Alonso has collapsed.

The news comes just days after Tajinderpal Sumal tepped down as a director of No Limits Sports, the vehicle through which he as Erik Alonso were due to buy Derby County.

In April, an agreement was reached to sell the Rams to No Limits Sports, but has failed to complete the deal.

Derby County said at the time they will make no further comment until the transaction is complete.

A statement from No Limits last month said: “We are proud and delighted to announce No Limits Sports Limited have approached the EFL for approval to be the new owners of Derby County Football Club, following agreement with the club’s current owner Mel Morris.

“We are privileged to take ownership of one of the founding members of the Football League and to build a fresh future for the fans, staff and players of Derby County.

In March, Rams owner Mel Morris pulled the plug on the deal to sell the club to Derventio Holdings, which was headed up by Sheikh Khaled.
